THE CHINO GRINDER:
115 MILE GRAVEL ULTRA ENDURANCE CYCLING EVENT

The course will be a 115 mile-long out and back from Chino Valley, Arizona to Williams, Arizona and back through the upper Verde Watershed of the Prescott and Kaibab National Forests. There is approximately a 70/30 split between gravel and paved roads. Expect little to no motor vehicle traffic. Conditions of the gravel roads can vary from hard-pack, to rutted or washboard depending on the last time the roads were graded. Elevations along the course vary from 4000 ft to 7200 ft. At the lowest point of the course average high temps are in the mid 70’s for this time of the year. There are also 25, 44 and 62 mile all gravel options.

PARKING & CAMPING

Parking and camping(dry) for the Chino Grinder is directly adjacent to the start finish  at Community Center Park 1615 N Road 1 Rd E and E Perkinsville Road, approximately .5 miles east of Highway 89.

115 MILE ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley .5 miles east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and N Road 1 Rd E. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 31 miles. Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 becomes Coconino County Road 73, proceed 26 miles to the turnaround at White Horse Lake. Return to Chino following the same route.  There are cut-offs.

Aid stations at miles 23, 31, 54, 86.  Cold beer at the finish.

 

62 MILE ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley .5 miles east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and N Road 1 Rd E. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 31 miles. Turnaround is at Aid Station 2 located at the intersection of Perkinsville and Drake Roads.

44 MILE ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley .5 miles east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and N Road 1 Rd E. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 22 miles. Turnaround is at Aid Station 1

Aid Station: at mile 23, after the Verde River bridge on the west side of the road.  Stocked with water, ice and goodies.

25 MILE ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley .5 miles east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and N Road 1 Rd E. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 12.5 miles. Turnaround fluid station will be stocked with water, sports drinks and ice.

Fire Rd 110 turns slightly left and becomes Fire Rd 109/White Horse Lake Rd – 2.2 mi

Continue straight – 0.6 mi

Turn right toward Fire Rd 109 – 0.2 mi
